The numbers listed here are the Nato Stock Numbers (NSN) for each item in the Ministry of Defence stock system. This is the number that is used to order a flag from stores. It should be noted that the existence of an NSN does not guarantee that the item is available from stock.
Items can have one of four statuses:
The numbers listed here are the MoD Management Code for each item. This indicates which section of the MoD is responsible for this item. O330 indicates the Royal Navy, H8 indicates the British Army and 4B indicates the Royal Air Force.
For flag hardware the "fittings type" field is replaced by a description of the item.
Traditionally flag sizes in the Royal Navy are given in 'breadths'. A breadth is 9 inches (approximately 23cm), so a "4 Breadth" flag is 36 inches or 1 yard (92cm) high. Some specialized flags do not give their size in breadths.
This is the width of the flag in centimetres, and is the distance from the bottom of the heading to the top. It does not include the size of the fittings.
This is the length of the flag in centimetres, and is the distance from the heading to the fly edge.
